Finding what is most relevant for a user requires search and access tools for multilingual multimedia, and those tools need to be aware of the many ways in which we want to read, use and enjoy information. This is a great market opportunity for new technologies: the future tools are being researched, developed, and built in labs today!
But how do you know whether a search engine is good enough for your business? New technologies coming from Labs need to be properly benchmarked and validated to make sure they achieve not only technological excellence but also meet known requirements from real world use cases. This workshop will introduce its participants to methodologies for the systematic evaluation and monitoring of search engines, and discuss future trends and requirements for the next generation of information access systems.
