Organizers

Nicola Ferro is and has been involved in the overall coordination of the CLEF evaluation campaigns for many years as well as in the organization of tracks (Ad-hoc, TEL@CLEF, Grid@CLEF, GeoCLEF). He has been programme co-chair of the CLEF 2010 Conference on Multilingual and Multimedia Information Access Evaluation. He is the coordinator of PROMISE, the FP7 European Network of Excellence on the experimental evaluation of multilingual and multimodal information access systems. He is scientific leader of the DL.org working group on quality in digital libraries.  He has participated and participates in several national and international projects, recent ones are: Europeana Connect (multilingual information access services for Europeana and their evaluation – principal investigator and task leader), Europeana v 1.0 (multilinguality and annotations in the Europeana Data Model – principal investigator), TrebleCLEF (best practices, collaboration, and evaluation for multilingual information access systems – principal investigator and work package leader). He is and has been PC member of the major information retrieval and digital libraries conferences (SIGIR, ECIR, CIKM, IliX, ECDL, JCDL, ICADL, WI, WSDM). He is member of ACM and IEEE; he is advisory member of the Information Retrieval Society of India (IRSI).

Maria Gäde is a researcher and PhD student at the Berlin School of Library and Information Science, Humboldt-University, Berlin. She works as a researcher in work package 2 (Multilingual Access to Content) in the eContentplus EuropeanaConnect project focusing on providing multilingual access to Europeana, in PROMISE and the ICT PSP Galateas project. Her research focuses on user requirements for multilingual access in digital libraries. In 2010, she participated in the LogCLEF track.

Monica Lestari Paramita is a PhD student in Sheffield University who  also works as research associate of a FP7 EU-funded project, ACCURAT,  which is collaboration between Sheffield University and several other  universities and industries in Europe. The project aims to build  comparable corpora for under resourced languages and she is responsible  for developing methods to identify and retrieve the comparable documents  from the Web. Previously, she was involved in the query log analysis  task from Press Association (UK) and Belga News Agency (Belgium), in  particular to identify queries which have diversity needs. Her task was  also to create the dataset in ImageCLEFphoto Task 2009, in which she is  also one of the organizers. She is the primary author for the Photographic Image Retrieval chapter in the ImageCLEF book.
